David Buchanan (Samsung), who became the 31st player in KBO history to reach double-digit wins in four consecutive years, credited his teammates for the success, saying, “I know how hard it is to win one game. I can’t do it alone,” he said, giving credit to his teammates.
Buchanan started the first game of the doubleheader against Doosan at Jamsil Stadium on Sept. 9 and pitched eight innings of seven-hit ball, striking out four and allowing one run.
KBSN sports commentator Yoo Hee-kwan, a 101-win left-hander who commentated on the game, said, “Today’s game deserves 150 points out of 100, not 100.” “It was a very important game for the team and myself, and he pitched like an ace,” he said.
After getting out of the first inning with a three-hit shutout, Buchanan found himself with runners on first and second after back-to-back singles by Yang Seok-hwan and Kim Jae-hwan in the second. He gave up a single to Kang Seung-ho to score the first run of the inning, but soon brought in Cho Sun-hyun and Heo Kyung-min with a straight hit to shortstop and a fly to center field, respectively.
After retiring Jung Soo-bin, Kim Jae-ho, and Jose Rojas in order in the third inning, Buchanan struck out the leadoff batter, Yang Yang-ji, on a swinging strikeout and retired Kang Seung-ho and Cho Su-haeng on a fly to center field and a pitcher’s choice, respectively. With one out in the fifth, he gave up a single to Jung Soo-bin, but induced Kim Jae-ho to pop out to third to end the inning.
After retiring Rojas, Yang Seok-hwan, and Kim Jae-hwan on nine pitches in the sixth, Buchanan induced Yang and Kang Seung-ho to fly out to center field in the seventh and then struck out Cho Soo-hyun on a swinging strikeout. 온라인바카라
Buchanan was back on the mound in the eighth and gave up a leadoff single to Jung Soo-bin, but got Park Kye-beom to ground out to first and pinch-hitter Kim In-tae to ground out to first. Buchanan gave way to right-hander Lee Seung-hyun in the ninth inning with a 5-1 lead.
Samsung beat Doosan 5-1 to snap a three-game losing streak that began on April 7 against Lotte in Ulsan. Oh Jae-il went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, while Lee Jae-hyun went 2-for-4 with a home run, one RBI and one run scored to help Buchanan get the win.
“It feels good,” Buchanan said after the game. I’m happy to get the win and get to 10 wins. I actually had to drop my family off at Incheon Airport today because they were leaving the country. So it was a little bit sad, but I’m happy to get the win.”
“I also want to thank the fans who cheered my name when I came down the mound. It was a day game today, so it must have been very hot in the stands, but their enthusiastic support gave me more energy,” he said.
