‘Dance deck’ Dudek’s dissatisfaction, “Why can’t the PK provocation? Can’t you do anything to stop it?”

Yeji Dudek (50), who blocked an opponent’s shot while dancing in the penalty shoot-out, expressed dissatisfaction with the new rules.

The International Football Council (IFAB), a consultative body that determines soccer rules and methods, announced on the 25th (Korean time), “The new rules apply from July 1, 2023. From now on, the goalkeeper cannot interfere with the opposing striker during a penalty kick (PK). You cannot touch the goal posts and nets.”

Previously, in a PK situation, the strange transfer of nerves between the kicker and the goalkeeper was one of the interesting elements. Goalkeepers would walk up to the kicker and talk quietly, saying something like “I know where you’re going to kick”. There was also a goalkeeper who danced while jumping and waving his arms. That’s what dudek is.

Dudek played AC Milan in a penalty shoot-out in the 2004-05 season European Football Federation (UEFA) Champions League (UCL) final while playing for Liverpool. Liverpool won the Champions League thanks to Dudek blocking shots from Andrea Pirlo and Andriy Shevchenko.

Upon hearing the news that the PK rules had changed, Dudek said in an interview with the ‘Liverpool Echo’ on the 26th, “Why can’t it be an act that interferes with PK? can not understand. Goalkeepers have to move a lot when blocking PKs.”

“IFAB makes several new regulations every year. But the goalkeepers would quickly adapt. You can tell just by looking at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Many goalkeepers blocked the PK. It was a really amazing save,” he added. 먹튀검증

Dudek recalled the shootout in the 2005 Champions League final. He said, “Before the final, I watched AC Milan’s PK scene more than 100 times. He studied how each player kicked. It was a big help in the real game,” he said. “Jamie Carragher came to me and told me to put pressure on the opposing kickers. In a penalty shoot-out, the kicker’s burden is greater than the goalkeeper’s. He took advantage of that.”

Pirlo, who was blocked by Dudek in the penalty shootout at the time, said in his autobiography, “We lost the penalty shootout because of Dudek’s goalkeeper who danced stupidly that day. I was so upset that I couldn’t sleep. It was disgusting. I thought of Dudek and Liverpool players until I fell asleep.”
