Gwak Bin, who has been to WBC, first appearance in exhibition game 3 scoreless innings ‘152km no-hitter’

Doosan pitcher Gwak Bin (24), who has been on the World Baseball Classic (WBC) national team, threw a maximum of 152 km in the first appearance of the demonstration game and pitched 3 innings no-hitter.

Kwak Bin started the 2023 KBO League demonstration game against Hanwha at Daejeon Hanwha Life Insurance Eagles Park on the 24th, gave up only 1 walk in 3 innings, but threw 3 strikeouts without any hits and threw well with no runs. With Doosan’s 10-3 victory, he became the winning pitcher in his first appearance in the demonstration game.

Kwak Bin, who pitched in relief in two games against Japan and the Czech Republic in the WBC, accumulated experience in international competitions by recording 4 hits, 3 strikeouts and 3 runs in 2 innings. On the 14th, after returning to the national team, he returned to Doosan, and showed his first demonstration game in 10 days.

In the first inning, Kwak Bin, who started by striking out Hanwha No. 1 No Soo-gwang with a change-up, struck out Eun-Won Jeong on 8 pitches and walked. However, after inducing Chae Eun-sung to ground to third base, Brian O’Grady finished the first inning with a looking strikeout with a low 147km fastball outside.

Kwak Bin, who threw 24 balls in the first inning, grounded Noh Si-hwan to third base, struck out Kim In-hwan with a changeup on a swing, and threw Lee Myeong-ki a fly ball to the third base in the second inning, retiring with 12 balls. In the 3rd inning, Choi Jae-hoon was center fielder’s fly ball, Moon Hyun-bin’s left fielder’s fly ball, and Roh Soo-gwang’s center fielder’s fly ball, and he once again made a tripartite offense with 11 balls.

Kwak Bin, who passed the ball to left-hander Choi Seung-yong in the 4th inning, completed his first appearance in the demonstration game with a total of 47 pitches. He raised the pace to match the opening of the season by throwing a mix of changeups (10), curves (7) and sliders (6) centered on fastballs (24) with a maximum speed of 152 km and an average of 148 km.

After the game, Kwak Bin said, “The result was good, but I couldn’t throw the first pitch strike, so I had a count fight at a disadvantage. That’s a pity. There was no awkwardness. I am in good shape. I will do my best to show a better appearance than today during the regular season.”  메이저놀이터

Pitcher Jeong Cheol-won, who was the same age as Kwak Bin and went to the WBC, came to the rescue in the 8th inning and blocked 1 inning with 1 walk, 1 strikeout, and no runs. Jeong Cheol-won, who struck out the leader Lee Do-yoon with a 149km fastball and caught Kim Tae-yeon with a fly ball to center fielder, gave Lee Jin-young a walk, but put Park Sang-eon out on second base. The inning ended with 16 pitches.

On the 21st, the first game after returning from the national team, Jeong Cheol-won blocked Suwon KT with 2 hits, 2 hits, and no runs in 1 inning. Until this day, he continued his rookie-of-the-year appearance with two consecutive scoreless games.
