Romanian coach Dan Petrescu, 56, has been named the new head coach of Jeonbuk Hyundai.
“We have appointed Romanian soccer legend Petrescu as the seventh coach in our history,” the club announced on September 9. He is the second foreign manager in the club’s history after Joze Morais, who led Jeonbuk for two seasons starting in 2019. “He has a wealth of championship experience and a strong understanding of Asian soccer,” the organization said in a statement. 토토사이트
During his playing career, Petrescu played for Genoa (Italy), Sheffield Wednesday, Chelsea, and Southampton (England). He made 150 appearances for Chelsea, where he was an integral part of the Blues’ defense. He also represented Romania A in 95 games (12 goals).
Since 2003, he has turned to coaching and has managed Kuban Krasnodar, Dynamo Moscow (Russia), Al Arabi (Qatar), Jiangsu Suning (China) and Cluj (Romania).
Jeonbuk is currently in seventh place out of 12 clubs in the K League 1 this season. Head coach Kim Sang-sik left the team on March 4 due to poor performance, and Kim Doo-hyun has been leading the team as acting head coach.
Petrescu is scheduled to hold an official press conference on May 14 to reveal his impressions of his appointment.
