LG manager Yeom Kyung-yup on the 2-game winning streak: “Oh Ji-hwan played a role with a flowing double and the winning run”

The LG Twins pulled off a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the Samsung Lions in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Wednesday. Captain Oh Ji-hwan turned a fifth-inning error into a leadoff double in the seventh, a tying run in the eighth and a game-winning RBI single in the ninth.

Starter Adam Plutko pitched six strong innings, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out six, but LG was stymied by the Samsung mound until Plutko went down. Plutko’s unbeaten streak came to an end at 12 games.

LG tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh on a leadoff double by Oh Ji-hwan, a sacrifice bunt by Moon Bo-kyung, and a tying sacrifice fly by Lee Jae-won. In the bottom of the eighth, Kim Hyun-soo laid down a sacrifice bunt with the bases loaded.

Park Dong-won drew an automatic walk to put runners on first and second with two outs. The shortstop’s hard-hit ball sailed into the outfield, bringing home Jung Joo-hyun, who was at second base. 메이저놀이터

After Flutko, LG used the bullpen of Jung Woo-young, Ham Deok-joo, and Go Woo-seok to shut down the Samsung bats. Ham Deok-ju earned the save, while Go Woo-seok picked up his first save since returning from a back injury.

After the game, head coach Yeom Kyung-yeop said, “Plutko did his job as a starter, and our bullpen was able to close out the game in their respective innings. In the batting order, I would like to praise the teamwork of our players as a whole, and Oh Ji-hwan came through with the game-winning double and the game-winning hit.”

“We were able to win thanks to the fans who came and supported us in the first game of the week. Thank you,” he said, expressing his gratitude to the LG fans.
