Reported a recording file requesting FA back money to Park Dong-won… A statement from KIA general manager Jang Jung-seok

KIA Tigers general manager Jang Jeong-seok announced his intention to resign right before the start of the season.

As a result of OSEN’s coverage, general manager Jang Jeong-seok recently informed the club of his intention to voluntarily resign. It is known that this was due to controversy in the process of negotiating an FA contract last winter.

It was because of the circumstances in which he demanded back money during FA negotiations with catcher Park Dong-won.

According to what the KIA club found out, general manager Jang Jeong-seok, who had a close relationship with Park Dong-won since the days of the Nexen front desk, jokingly said during the FA negotiations with the intention of ‘let’s make a good contract’.

The club found out the facts and reported the matter to the Clean Baseball Center. In addition, the club’s own disciplinary committee will be held to make a final decision on the matter of moving forward.

Meanwhile, general manager Jang Jeong-seok graduated from Deoksu High School and Chung-Ang University, debuted as a pro in 1996, and played for Hyundai and KIA. He played in 580 first-team games, batting .251 (176 hits in 818 at-bats) with 7 home runs, 75 RBIs, 105 runs scored and 19 stolen bases.

After retiring from active duty, general manager Jang Jeong-seok served as the 1st team recorder, 1st team manager, and operation team leader. 안전놀이터

Jang Jeong-seok, who led Kiwoom to runner-up in the Korean Series in 2019, but failed to renew the contract, worked as a KBSN sports commentator for two years from 2020. In November 2021, he was appointed as the general manager of KIA and led the team to advance to the final 5 by aggressively reinforcing power.

He prepared diligently for a higher goal this season, but with the opening of the season just around the corner, he resigned as general manager due to controversy over the negotiation process for the FA contract.
